Application Scaling

The VisXpert “Visualization” Module supports various scaling options. These options allow you to create process images for one resolution and then execute the application on system with different Resolutions, and the application will scale accordingly.

This function is very useful to use “Touch PC” components in your application together with other Stations. “Touch PC” frequently do not have “Full HD” resolutions, thus the application must be scaled to fit the screen. With the Scaling feature, you can create projects for an “Full HD” resolution and then scale the HMI when it is started to the actual screen resolution.

When does the Scaling get applied

the HMI application will get scaled up or down once when starting up. After that it will retain its scaling factor. If the resolution of the Device is changed, the HMI must be restarted, so it can detect the new resolution and scale accordingly.

How does Scaling work

When the HMI application starts up, it checks if “Scaling” is enabled for this application. if it is enabled it will scale according to the Settings provided. The application calculates x and y scaling factors which get applied to all elements in the Application. Texts are scaled to remain readable.

Scaling according to Project resolution

While Engineering, you set the Project resolution for which the application is intended. When the Application starts up it checks the current resolution and calculates the Scaling factors from that. If you have an application that is intended for Full HD devices, and run it on an lower resolution, the application will scale to remain the same relative Monitor size.

Scaling by fixed factor

This option is intended as an fall back, and allows you to set an fixed scaling factor to always be applied, independed of the current Screen resolution.
